.Getting back to the basics means using the simplest tools I am comfortable with: lines, shapes, compositions. There is something very satisfying about attempting to work with the nature of a tool or medium. Wet ink and water on paper with the shapes of the tools (brushes, nibs) visible. A coded ellipse, randomized size and relative randomness of mouse-drawn paths. The goal for the first part of this year is to generate a bunch of hybrid works that feel like natural collaborations between computer and person. Nothing new there, just a reasonable metaphor looming large in my waking hours.
